Clive Somerville

The Review Show: Clive and Helen bring you the brightest and best of what’s been seen, heard and done this week in Bristol. And some tuneful interludes from albums you may like to review for yourself.

This week Clive and Helen discuss ‘enjoying Christmas on a budget‘  with hints and tips from the recent Which? consumer survey on how to do just that. With less focus on the commercial side of things, we ask whether it could actually be a way of getting back to what Christmas is perhaps meant to be about  - family, friends and giving your time to others – rather than the maxing out the credit card once more to buy the latest X-box?

We have the latest ‘Christmas News‘ at a time of year that seems to bring out as many silly news stories as the summer season. And Tom from BCfm’s sparkling Coolturowy international entertainment show (yes, that’s the one that follows ours at 8pm every Tuesday) to tell us what the show is all about – and reveal that, as much of it is in English, there’s something for everyone to listen to – and gain a great insight into all sorts of international cultural goings on.

We uncover a musical gem in a north Bristol charity shop, in our Charity Choice cd of the week – and of course reveal our Hero of the Week – which could have more to do with you than you think!

Playlist

We heard from:  David Bowie (Everyone Says Hi); David Stigerson (It’s A Big Country); Bristol’s very own Moscow Drug Club (Moscow Drug Club); Roxy Music (Oh Yeah) Mike Flowers Pops (Wonderwall – CHARITY CHOICE); Alabama 3 (Peace in the Valley)
