On today’s Sports Show we focus on a big day for Bristol Rovers Football club as they entertain Premiership side Aston Villa in front of an estimated live television audience of over one million people in the 3rd Round of the F.A. Cup. Kick-off at the Memorial stadium is at 5.30pm.
Bristol City enter the competition at the 3rd Round stage with a tricky tie at League Two leaders, Crawley Town.
Our favourite Amateur Football club are Bristol Athletic FC. The Regional Sunday side have now disbanded due to a lack of numbers but the Saturday side and Under 18′s are back in action this weekend, weather permitting! They will not want another postponement as this causes fixture backlog at the end of the season but all being well, the Saturday team are at home to Glenside 5 Old Boys. The lads will be out for revenge as the lost the opening day reverse fixture by 5 goals to 3. The Under 18′s are away to Warmley Rangers on Sunday in Bristol Division North.
In Rugby Union, Bristol have on paper an easy match with bottom of the Championship Esher on Sunday (3pm) at the Memorial stadium. Bristol are still top of the table with 60 points, seven clear of Bedford Blues. On saturday, Dings Crusaders and Clifton RFC continue their campaigns in National Two league South after the Christmas break with matches against Redruth and Henley respectively.
