On today’s sports extravaganza that is the BCfm Sports show we talk to Ken Scivyer, Race Director for ‘Ultra Running UK’. On the 3rd of March, runners will complete a 46 mile course around the suburbs of Bristol and the surrouding area. The route starts in Clifton and takes in Dundry, Pensford, Keynsham,Warmley, Winterbourne, Patchway, Henbury and Sea Mills before winding up again in Clifton. They should all be well and truely knackered by then!
Our favourite local football club is Bristol Athletic. Last Saturday they gained a one all draw against Severn Beach. Today they host Avonmouth Reserves. Tomorrow its a clash of the Athletic’s as Bristol U18’S travel to Hanham U18’S in Bristol Division North.
2nd from bottom Doncaster Rovers are Bristol City’s opponents in the Championship this afternoon. City lie in 20th place and need all three points to pull away from the relegation zone. Bristol Rovers held high flying Crawley Town to a goaless draw last saturday plus they finally have a new manager aboard the Pirate ship – namely former Bristol City apprentice Mark McGhee. Today they have a tough local derby at 2nd in League Two at local rivals, Cheltenham Town.
In Rugby Union, Dings Crusaders are at Shelford this afternoon for a 2.15pm start and Clifton host Hartpury college at Cribbs Causeway from 2.30pm.
Cricket News - Gloucestershire captain Alex Gidman’s Benefit year starts with a Gala Dinner at the Bristol Hotel on Thursday February 23RD. Somerset Batsman Marcus Trescothick will be in attendence along with ‘Celebrity Master Chef’ Champion and former Rugby Union forward Phil Vickery.
