Hi and welcome to the “Take It Easy” page, Earlier this week I spoke to Beth Yarsley from Windmill Hill City Farm about the farm and the “Spring Festival” which is taking place at the farm on Sat May 26th, if you can get a long to it then I’m sure that you’ll have a great out. Admission is £5 for adults and free for under 16s, many thanks to Beth for coming in to BCfm. To find out more about Windmill Hill City Farm go to www.windmillhillcityfarm.org.uk You can listen to what Beth by using the listen again links above. Also Phil Gibbons went a long to Holy Family Catholic School in Whitchurch, some of the pupils spoke about the banner workshop and also parents and staff spoke about the good effect it had on the children. In the local news stories that featured in today’s show were:- We’re out of the drought. Beatles LP’s are a great help to charity shop. Oddities on show. For Pete’s sake party. And in the national news headlines: - Tax Windfall for 3.5M People. Pen Pushers’ Gravy Train Hits Buffers. Chaotic Capital. In the week that was we looked back at this week in May 1986, when the big names in town were American pioneer punk rockers The Ramones and golden oldies The Shadows, plus the trial of the men who were accused of being conspirators to profit from the Brinks-Mat gold heist at Heathrow in 1983. And thanks to Paul Davis for supplying the score updates through out the show, and of course yourselves for listening to the show have a good week until next Saturday afternoon, I’ll speak to you again then.

The search for Bristol’s first elected lord mayor begins today after a referendum on Thursday produced a win for the yes votes, Thursday’s poll was a low 24 percent, but the result was clear that people in Bristol want to see a change in the way the city is run. The ‘yes’ vote result means that the clock is ticking towards an election on November 15th to decide who will be Bristol’s first elected lord mayor. Looking back to this week in May 1975, the big names in town were prog rock band Yes and Pilot, the group tipped to follow the Bay City Rollers as the next sub-teen sensation. Still back in this week May 1975, the arrival of the sail training ship the Sir Winston Churchill in Portishead dock was a sad reminder magnificent vessels like this would never again be seen up river in Bristol’s floating harbour. The building of the M5 bridge (it was finished in 1974) meant that ships with masts higher than 100ft could not pass under the bridge. It’s a major reason why the city can no longer hold any maritime festivals involving tall sailing ships. In previous years, for safety reasons, the electricity supply to Shirehampton and Avonmouth had been cut off by engineers for a few minutes to allow vessels such as the Sir Winston Churchill to pass by just a few feet below overhead cables. On Castle Park, a three month archaeological dig was taking place to learn more about Bristol’s past. Remains of a medieval street had been unearthed, said the experts, as well as a 15th century cellar. These are just a couple of the things featured in today’s show you can use the links above to listen again to the whole show. And finally as you know it’s Bank Holiday Monday this Monday, so have a great day and i’ll be back on air next Saturday afternoon just after 3:00pm with sport updates by Paul Davis who will also be presenting the BCfm Sports Round Up show after the news at 5:00pm. Cheers for now and have a good week

The main story in today’s show was: - Legal Challenge In Stadium Plan. A top judge looks likely to allow a legal challenge to go ahead over the future of Ashton Vale – causing another stumbling block for Bristol City FC’s plans to build a new £92 million stadium. Mr Justice Underhill was expected yesterday to decide wether a judicial review critical to the sites future should proceed. But he adjourned his final judgement until next week. other stories featured were: - All Star Cricket Team Plans Return Visit. Airport Fund Makes First Donations To Projects. Free Valuations At Antiques Fair. Two Of Bristols Popular and Historic Pubs Go On The Market. And also in the feature The Week That was we looked at this week in 1974. Plus we had lots of items from the local news over the last week, use the links above to listen again, I’ll be back next week just after 3:00PM have a good week until then. 25 Feb 3:00 pm

Hi, well its been a much better weekend so far than last what with the bit of sunshine we had today and of course over the last week a lot of the country has suffered poor driving conditions but we seemed to escape the worst of it again. You’ve probably noticed that its still the wrong date on this blog thats because the error hasn’t been corrected yet. In today’s show I featured stories from the local news and national news headlines in the local news the stories that were featured are: - Police dog into national finals Birthday bash at favourite resort 10cm of snow were predicted for Bristol yesterday Shop shows support 100s back protest against Tesco at ex pub Enjoy Victorian treats aboard historic ship City is first stop for Lion King and in the national news: - Copper on the catwalk Prezza cops it French test is a puzzler Wrong number How to avoid arguing with your other half You can listen to the show if you missed it by using the links at the top. Congratulations to Paul Davis who has landed a permanent job after a long spell of job hunting. Hello, what a weekend what with the snow and bad weather, we seem to miss the worst of it in this part of the country compared to the north and other parts of the UK. A lot of sports fixtures such as football and rugby were cancelled so Paul Davis had a lot of cancellations to announce this afternoon. If you’re looking at the date of this blog you will notice that the date is incorrect this was because of an error on the BCfm site so until this is sorted it looks like we’ll be one week ahead. Well its short and sweet this week but don’t forget I’ll be back on air Saturday afternoon just after 3:00pm.

It’s amazing what thief’s will steal these days as one story demonstrated, a life sized fibre glass camel which has been used in film sets was stolen from a garden in East Mosely, Surrey, and did you know that the shirt worn by England World Cup – winning capt Bobby More is up for sale at the price of £39,995. I must admit that sum of money would be nice in any ones bank account these days. The Swedish super group (ex I must hasten) are going to release their final album, The Visitors, it will be a deluxe edition with featuring a previously unreleased track, the album will be on sale in the UK in April. Going back to football David Beckham has claimed that he never wanted to be rich (oh yeah!) he just dream’t of playing football, can you remember the shoe fashion of the 1970s shoes with stacked heels, short stars such has Tom Cruise have sparked a revival in this fashion with one high street retail chain reporting that sales are 85% better than expected. And Corrie bosses were celebrating this week when Becky Macdonald’s exit proved to be a ratings smash. 12.4 million Corrie fans tuned in to bid fare well to the mouthy babe played by Katherine Kelly. Still with TV Loose Women regular Denise Welch was Crowned the winner. Beware with your shredded documents as there is a new computer scanner that can reconstruct documents, so far it has been used to recreate documents that were destroyed by secret police in former East Germany. And finally experts have developed a desk treadmill, called the work station, that allows office staff to burn thousands of calories a month while they are working. That’s it for now have a good week, don’t forget to keep up to date on whats happening at BCfm by looking at the rest of the stations website. 21 Jan 3:00 pm
![]() Presented by Clane Selway Nice and easy listening with Clane Welcome to the “The Take It Easy Blog”, I’ve noticed over the last couple of weeks that the nights are drawing out so I’m looking forward to longer day light as the long hours of darkness in the winter are rather depressing. Changing the subject, if you’re wondering what to do with the scrap vehicle in your garden then I might have the solution for you use the listen again links above and you will hear the solution. So David Beckham is to strip down to his underpants for an advert the details are in the show, going on to sport now nice to hear that Bristol Rovers had a win today over Cheltenham away at Waddon Road also Bristol City doing well, you can find out how both teams did by listening again to the show for the details from Paul Davis, in the third part Paul does his round up of the afternoon scores. Onto something that is a free entry event tomorrow from 5pm at the Colston Hall is The Poles Aloud which is celebrating polish arts, music & entertainment, for more details visit www.polesaloud.com also Tony Gosling from the BCfm Drive Time show came on the show (on the telephone) with what could be said was a scoop for BCfm about the letter from the First Group to taxi drivers at Temple Meads station, the letter informed them that as from next month if they wished to pick up passengers from the station then they would have to pay the company £400 a year, Bristol City council told the taxi drivers representatives that there was nothing legally that they could do about this, so where does this leave passengers if the taxi drivers decide to boycott Temple Meads? It leaves them with a 15 minute walk to the nearest cab stand which is in Victoria Street. The taxi drivers would be able to drop passengers of at Temple Meads but they would not be able to wait there to pick up a fare unless they have paid First the £400, this comes about a year after the drivers were forced by BCC to have their cabs resprayed to conform with the councils ruling that the cabs should all be the same colour and the drivers had to pay for this out of their own pocket, you can hear Tony talking about this if you use the listen again links above. Well that’s it for now I will be back on air next Saturday afternoon just after 3pm so until then have a good week. 14 Jan 3:00 pm
![]() Presented by Clane Selway Nice and easy listening with Clane Hi and welcome to my blog here on the BCfm site, as you have probably noticed starting today there are 3 links for the listen again/down load of the show this is because from 5:00pm – 6:00pm Paul Davis now does a sports round up of the afternoons sporting activities. Here we are and January will be over within a week or so, time seems to have gone by quickly this month if it continues like this spring and summer will be arriving before we know it. Lets hope we have good weather this summer. On today’s show one of the stories was about the family of a gambler who had a flutter on the day of his funeral and won £400 between them (nice work). Next Sunday 22nd Jan there is a free event at the Colston Hall called Poles Aloud it will feature polish arts and music, a number of polish bands have flown in for this event and will be playing live on stage, also Soul Train will be playing live upstairs and BCfm will be broadcasting live from there from 5:00pm come along and have a great evening and of course its free! That’s about it for now I will be back on air nest Saturday afternoon from 3:00pm have a good week . 07 Jan 3:00 pm
![]() Presented by Clane Selway Nice and easy listening with Clane Phew! That was a marathon today’s show, 3 hours long the show was this long today as I stood in for Paul Davis who will be doing the sports round up at 5:00pm on Saturdays from next week. Good luck to Bristol Rover’s who are playing Aston Villa this evening, the kick off at the Memorial Ground was at 5:30pm when I went off air at 6 it was still 0 – 0 at the ground I’m sure that Paul will tell you all about the match next Saturday as he attended the game. Bad Luck followed Bristol City in their game against Crawley Town with Crawley going 1 – 0 up with a late goal to go on to the FA Cup 4th Round. Did you have a good New Year? My self it was a quiet time, I don’t know about you but I find January a rather flat month and I look forward to Spring with the hope of fine weather although we seem to get fine weather for short periods at different times of the year. That’s it for now until next Saturday’s show Byeeeeeeeeeeeee. 31 Dec 3:00 pm
![]() Presented by Clane Selway Nice and easy listening with Clane Hope you had a good Christmas, here we are then at the end of another year and the New Year Honours list has been published, it was nice to see local people who are not celebrities honoured for the work they have done in the community two such people are Clive and Sharon Cumming from Kingswood who were both awarded MBE’s for fostering upto 150 children over more than three decades, celebrities who were honoured included comedian Ronnie Corbett which in my opinion was long over. Almost all of us make new years resolutions and once again I’m going to try and stop smoking, I hope you have great success with your new years resolutions. Don’t forget you can listen again to todays show by using the links above or down load the show to save for a convenient time to listen to it. Have a good News Eve and a Happy New year.

![]() Presented by Clane Selway Nice and easy listening with Clane Welcome to the Take It Easy blog here on the BCfm site. Christmas is just a few hours away now and I’m ready for Christmas as I’ll ever be, one of the items featured in today’s show was a story about chocolate covered sprouts which is a great way to get the kids to eat them with their Christmas dinner or at any other time of the year, one question I have is do you cover the sprouts with chocolate before cooking them or after, I would presume that it would be after as the chocolate would melt away during the cooking. Changing the subject a new schedule will be starting here at BCfm from Jan 4th 2012, I will be joining Paul Davis to co-present a new show for Saturday afternoons which will include the latest sports news/results and stories along with items of general interest and music, this show is planned to start on Jan 14th 2012. I would like to thank you for listening over the last 12 months and wish you all a Merry Christmas and A Happy New year, I will be back on air next Saturday Dec 31st which is of course New Years Eve at just after 3:00pm. 17 Dec 3:00 pm

Onto today’s show then, the stories included in the show today were: - Local News Peter Rowell remanded in custody for Christmas. Chris Vacher say’sgoodnight, thankyou and goodbye. Tourist attraction wins leading loos award. Thornbury castle sold in £4 million deal.
National News Hubby no 4 for Sinead. Vet’s lemur riddle. Big six anger. Bank joy for Chris. Don’t forget you can listen to the show again using the links above or you can down load it and listen at your convenience. I’ll be back next Saturday afternoon on air which is of course Christmas Eve. 03 Dec 3:00 pm
![]() Presented by Clane Selway Nice and easy listening with Clane Three weeks to Christmas have you done your Christmas Shopping yet? If you’re like me then you leave it to the almost the last moment if not the last, I suppose that I’m lucky really as I don’t have to give many presents these days, it must be a long job for those who have to shop for lots of presents (you have my sympathy), may be at this point we should take a step back and look at Christmas from a different angle. Do you when buying Christmas presents think about the price, wether it is something the recipient wants, needs or will it be useful to them? I think that it doesn’t matter how big or how much a present costs most people will be happy to receive a present even if it was small and cheap, as the saying goes the pleasure is in the giving. That’s my thoughts on the subject, I’ll be back on air next Saturday afternoon just after 3:00pm have a good week till then. |
