Ramadahn is a very important time for the Islamic community. Bristol is populated by an estimated 30,000 people of Muslim faith, a large proportion of which live within walking distance of our studios and transmitter. Following the success of last years Radio Ramadahn BCfm once again offers them a platform on their community radio station.
Led by Zahir Malik, a veteran broadcaster, producer of the Saturday afternoon Asian shows, Radio Ramadahn broadcasts from 7pm through the important period where the fast is broken, then right through the night to keep people company as they get up in the early hours to eat before resuming their fast again. Normal programming resumes as usual at midday. Radio Ramadahn also broadcasts all day on Saturday and for most of Sunday. The full schedule can be seen for the week ahead by clicking on the ‘Podcasts and Listen Again button’ on the left hand side.
Radio Ramadahn finishes on the 12th September, after which a brand new schedule will be put into action on BCfm, bringing a number of new programmes to the airwaves! Stay tuned and check out the newsletter which will have plenty of information about the new line up.

BCfm Broadcasts live from the Bristol Harbour Festival Cascade Steps Stage
The weekend of July 30th / August 1st saw Bristol Community FM 93.2 setting up an outside broadcast to bring live coverage of performers on the Cascade Steps stage at the 2010 Bristol Harbour Festival. The stage has been organised by Jelli Records and Tin Hut Promotions. Having set up a studio to the right of the main stage BCfm broadcast every single act that performed on that stage, from midday to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday - 14 hours of broadcasting. The stage hosted all local acts with one or two exceptions - just what is to be expected from Bristol’s Community Radio Station.
Each act performed for around 30 minutes with a 20 minute break in between in which the next performance would be set up and sound checked. During these 20 minute breaks BCfm presenters brought interviews with the act that had just played, general scene setting of the occasion with the hundreds of thousands of spectators sitting on the natural elevated seating that is the cascade steps on what was a beautiful weekend in regards to the weather. There were also a number of reporters going around the other stages and areas of the festival, broadcasting back their experiences and interviews with the other performers and revellers - including one such interview with a man with a parrot on his head that caused a quite a deal of excitement around the studio.
